The Beast from the East – winter in the Lake District

The Beast From the East winter in the Lake District.

The Beast from the East is the catch phrase being used for the blast of cold weather that is about to hit us this week. So far, in the Lake District, the result of this cold easterly weather pattern has been fabulous. Blue skies and sunshine. Here’s a photo from November. The weather today is very similar. This is the best of winter in the Lake District.

Yes, it has been cold, but dry sunny cold weather is great for walking. At the end of the day a soak in a hot bath ( with spa bubbles) a lovely meal, maybe enoy a glass or two of wine or a local specialist beer from one of our many micro breweries.Relax by the log burning stove.

Log burning stove in our Grasmere cottage

We have two weeks available between now and July. These are the weeks 10-17 March, which was £590 but has been reduced to £490, and the week 17-24 March, which was £690, now reduced to £590. The log burning stove is laid for you to light on arrival, but the cottage is always very cosy due to the efficient central heating. The Lake District is wonderful to visit at any time of year. Take a look at this article for more information.

The views from Brockstone Grasmere Cottage in this clear weather are wonderful. Here’s a picture to give you an idea of a crisp winter day at the cottage. It’s possible, if you wrap up, to have lunch on the terrace, even in January, February and March.
